I'm moving my studio into a building and I will have to treat the walls a bit. How do I get started? How do I know what I need? Also,I have the option of doing a sand filled drum booth floor. The 2x4 frame on the floor with sand filled inbetween then a floor installed on top kind of thing. Is this a good idea??? Its cheap enough to do.Thanks,Jim

You can get a good start by reading up on acoustic treatment at my company's web site:

www.realtraps.com

In particular, the Acoustics Facts & Fiction page will give you a good overview of the issues. Note that sound treatment within a room and sound isolation between rooms and the outside are two entirely different issues.
