travis barker or chad sextons snare sound

hey does anyone know which mics were used to record these snares? their snares sound awesome and i have one very similar to both of theirs and i cant get the drum to sound as good as theirs when its miced. my snare sounds pretty good and close to theirs but whenever i mic it it sounds more like a marching snare

Try double micing the snare, or a 30 band EQ. Otherwise try cranking the F*&^ out of the head and really tighten the strainer!

the snare on the tune is an OCDP 20 ply 6 x 14 with 4 vents. Pretty much everything is cranked on the snare. As far as eq goes, there was a small cut at 600hz and a nice boost at 6-8khz. There is also a waves C1 compressor and L1 limiter on it.

Oh, and as far as mics go...not sure what is used in studio, but live there is an audix D1 on top of travis' snare.
