hi there,
i listened to the only thing. and it's a nice simple song. i think that you have a good voice also, but you need to bring it up in the mix. the vocals are competing with the guitar and the flute, or whatever that is. the recording seems to be well done and clean. A tad flat and/or dry in my humble opinion. I'm listening on puter speakers so keep that in mind. overall, a fine song!
thanks for sharing it!

hey there again, i checked out the other two songs, and i think that the way you integrated the radio stuff into the song and the effects that you used were pretty clever. they make the song defintely a little more different than your average song. i think that what you're doing, is good, but no too mainstream. if that 's what you're after, then i think you should go for it.
all in all, pretty clever, and well done stuff!!

hey thanks for listenin! yeah i do need to turn up the vocals... but i hate singing.

thanks again!

Padre Harrison is different. You have some interesting scales goin on there. Good recording/mix. Vocals are the best part of the song, in my opinion.

Listened to 'the only thing'

I hate to rain on your parade here, but the quality of the recording is really bad. There's a lot of hiss.
The guitar and especially the flute are really dull IMO. Your voice sounds a little like Billy Corgan's I think, that's cool. Those harmony parts are way off and sound destracting though.
I'm not sure what you used to get that kick sound, but I'd either lose it or add some more drums with some variation.
I didn't mean to sound this harsh, I'm just being honest..

no thats fine! thats the kind of stuff i wanted to hear.

it was recorded on cakewalk using the crappy mic that came with the computer.

which harmonies are distracting? the vocal harmonies at the chorus? any suggestions for fixing it?

I'll have another listen again when I'm home (no decent speakers at work obviously). I'll get back to you.

Call me wacky, but I sort of like hiss on some recordings, adds an authentic realistic sort of mood or atmosphere. I also like samples and clips in songs, a practise informed by hip-hop but now borrowed far and wide. I think the hiss fits

and yeah, I really dig it man, keep it up
