Hi guys I'm new here! My first posting -- gee I'm noivus, here goes nuttin....I've been reading up on all the info at SAE & followed many a link to various Absorbers, traps, materials, insul, ratings, reverb calcs, standing waves etc etc... I'm curious how/why does traping work? Why do some guys use sealed traps & others front them with say peg board or slats? Also...if & when we determine what Hz were after (trapping) are trap dimensions (volume) critical? I guess with larger budgets this is whats addressed, but with home set ups, is it hit & miss? a little. Is trapping just an absorbtion illution? Isn't it still there (Hz) but reduced in level to the mix position?
Here's my situation, if you'd like to comment-- : ) thanks
My converted bedroom, 4.1m X 3.5m X 2.6m (L,W,H)
Active Monitors: (EMES) little beauties- on stands 990mm from floor, 760mm from front wall (I'm facing width) & 1060mm from sides, both the same.
I've got the usual lumps around 60/80Hz - 200Hz but after 40Hz it just goes up & up to about 10Hz is this usual. Ive ordered some ISB 5 Batts (Polyester) 85mm thick, cause I'm a glass pussy, and intend on glueing to masonite/ply and mounting on walls, everytime I think about trapping or toning the above mentioned Fqz I start getting a brain tumour! What to do, What to do...mmm
Anyway thanks for readin..onya
