Hello,

Yesterday I was writing a song, (its called "Change is a good thing") 30 seconds after writing the whole thing I was ready to record it. I poped in a tape and pressed record. Now Im ready to add drums to it.

I have a program on the computer (Magix Music maker) which has a drum machine. Now I need to figure out how to plug my tape deck into the computer without the levels being too high. I have a mixer, (Behringer UB1002) But when I plugged it into the computer even through the mixer, it was way too high!.. what should I do?

Sounds like you were plugging into the microphone input of your sound-card instead of the line input.

Microphone inputs on sound cards have addition stages of amplification to raise up the comparatively weak signal of a Mic to line level.

Almost any line level source you plug into that will distort and overload, almost immediately.

Check your sound card to see if it has a dedicated line level input and if it doesn't, you will need to upgrade the card or get one of those USB external audio interface devices which will turn an open USB port into an audio, line level input.

Cheers! :)
