I have SoundForge on my PC with a Delta breakout box. I'm interested in getting a robust digital recorder so that I can have something which is portable as well. I understand that the Fostex D-108 and D-160 will convert to .wav files. What about other recorders? For example, I'm looking at getting a Roland VSR-880.
I'd want to record a live gig or a practice session on the recorder, transfer it over to my PC, and then play with it there (master).
Will I have to hit play on my recorder and hit record on the PC? Or are there common datatypes that I can export to and then import into my software package?
