Transferring DAW Software Registration??

I've never transferred registration on software before. If I buy software from someone who is selling it because they're changing DAW's, is it straight forward to transfer registration to my name?

I understand it might be a little different depending which software it is, I haven't quite decided what I want, considering Logic and Sonar. But I imagine they will all be similar. I want to be 100% legit with whatever software I get, and be eligible for upgrades and support.

Thanks

most companies will have forms that need to be filled out and sent in. You probably can find them on their website if they have them. The seller just fills out his info on it including the registered serial number of the product, then he sends it along with the product to you. You just fill out your portion and send it in.

Any relatively recent version of Logic is Mac OS only. Keep that in mind.
With Apple Logic, (Pro, not Express) it uses the XSkey, which is a little USB copy protection device. I don't know if any information on that needs to be transferred, other than that, it's all you need.

Last I checked the website, Express required it, too. Did that change, or were Logic Express's system requirements just wrong?
