hey guys... if u could help me out.... i love cakewalk for tracking... but i am very used to using cooledit for editing and effects.. so how do i take the recorded track to cool edit for editing... thx

I would export each track as wav, and import them in CoolEdit.
But I wouldn't mix in CoolEdit at all...

I use Sonar and CEP together all the time, CEP should be showing up in Sonar's "tools" menu, you can select a track in Sonar's track view, then click on tools, then Cool Edit Pro, the specified track will then be opened up in CEP where you can edit away, when you are done, save the file, then close CEP, at this point Sonar will tell you that the track has changed, and ask if you would like to reload it, click yes.

But as far as I know, CEP won't show up in the Tools menu automaticly... but with Sonar Utils it's very easy accomplish.

I bought the CD for CEP, I have had to uninstall and reinstall both programs a couple of times, once installed, CEP always shows up in Sonar's tools menu on my setup, do you have the download version? maybe it installs differently...

Yeah, it's the download version. It's strange that it would install differently, but stranger things has happened.
I'm just used to it. CEP (version 1) didn't automaticly pop up in the Tools-menu on any system. Just search for CEP in the Cakewalk forum, and you'll see...

I gotta agree with moskus about mixing in CEP, but I guess it would really depend on how you like to work.
I have big problems getting more than about 10 tracks to play properly in CEP, it seems that no matter how I try to set up the buffers in CEP, my HD just runs like crazy with more than 10 or so tracks playing, Sonar on the other hand, I have set up to run nice and smooth..
CEP also seems to get choked up really fast with real-time plugins, you can, and pretty much have to "lock" the effects to the tracks, but this makes the project loading times take almost as long as putting a different reel of tape onto the old reel to reel!!!
Plus the lack of a proper aux send/return setup in CEP cramps the way I like to record, on my old P-III 600 Sonar REALLY outshines CEP in just about all areas of muti-track performance, but as an editing, file conversion, and home mastering program, CEP rules...

And thanks a lot for that Sonar Utils link! ever since I upgraded CEP to version 2.1, I have been getting TWO listings for CEP in the tools menu, one that just says Cool Edit Pro, and one that says Cool Edit Pro 2, so now I can get rid of one of 'em..
