I have a DAT that I want to convert to cdr. I do not have a DAT player. Is there one I can get at a reasonable price that can be hooked up to a computer? I don't want to compromise the quality...

Thanks!

What kind of DAT tape is it? If its A Hi8 casette, you'll need a DA-38 or something like it, plus the interface card to install on your PC. This could wind up costing you 400-500 bucks. Id say find someone on the board here who will let you send them your tape and have em transfer the trascks for ya for whatever they will charge (even if my price is off, it still won't be anywhere near as high as buying the player and interface system to transfer just the one tape). I forget who can do it, but search for "DAT transfer", etc.

To transfer a DAT there are basically two options:

Get a stand alone DAT deck and connect digitally to the computer's sound card (or to a stand alone CDR burner, etc).

-- or --

Get a DDS drive that is capable of having its firmware flashed to support reading audio data.

We do DAT transfers, among other things. PM me if you're interested.
