Very beautiful rendition Chris....what a great pair of voices!

The vocal recording could definitely be cleaner...

What I did was remove all the drawers out of my PC desk, and I put my tower in it. I cover up the front, but I leave the back open so it can breath (they are heavy breathers). I know what you mean about the iso booth (closet)...who's going to run the board? I do use the walk-in closet to isolate my guitar amp...that way I can turn it up to 11.
But yes, you will definitely want to isolate that tower ASAP. I don't use any noise reduction doing what I did...if it's an option for you, great.

Again...BEAUTIFUL rendition here!!!

Just reading what Tom wrote about isolation--

The setup I'm using is: MAC G4 (living room)-->25 ft USB/25 ft Video cable-->keyboard/mouse/flatscreen monitor in sound-treated (free) bedroom

I can shut the door, and the fan noise is lowered significantly... even when using condensors.

And the closet in that room has blankets draped on the ceiling, door, and all walls (it's also carpeted) making a good iso booth for vocals AND guitar amp... it's a good idea to put the guitar amp on a chair (for WHY, see Harvey Gerst's Big Thread and the section on mic'ing amps)

Ooooh, I DIG her voice! It's warm, resonant, and pure. A delight to hear. The guitar overpowers it just slightly, but ever so slightly. Neat 4/4 arrangement! Love the vocal harmonies too!

HOW OLD IS SHE??? Sounds mid-late teens, with an extra dollop of soul. Really a big treat to listen to. I hope yout two collaborate more. She really has something. Great little lick on the end there, she's got a grand style. Your talent is already a matter of record.

Lovin' it!!!

Cheers,
Phil

That was very nice. For all the country-rock I write and record, I'm a closet symphony fan. I loved the cello. The harmony with the cello and her voice was outstanding.

Are you sure that wasn't your girlfriend singing???:D She's great.

If she's only twelve and sounds like that, I can't wait to hear her after a few more ice cream seasons.

She sounds great. That noise reduction sounds like shit and you should be slapped for messing with her vocals. I know it's hard not to use all the toys but it always kills me how you have such great performances and good organic sound then you beat the shit out of the sound in your DAW.

A good performance is 90% of the battle and you guys have that down. If you are going to record stuff then just record it and stop messing with it so much. ;)

Hey Chris....

You did a great job all around man....

I have no nits.....
just kudos....

Damn the girl is talented....
harmony vox is great....I can feel the music...ya know?

Please know that all of your comments were read and appreciated by both of us. I type too damned much on this BBS, so I won't bore you with more drivel right now. Besides, I was saving the reply to this post for something truly special.
