once again i have crawled out from my hole and left the throne that i sit on to dwell amongst the pros. i have a question that i need an answer for. here goes.

i wish to multitrack the music from my keyboard and record it to my PC or VS. the question is how high do i need to have the individual sounds? should all the sounds be at 127 or should i track all the sounds -12 to -4 db or should it be -3db or should all the tracks be at 0db when i record them? please i need someone to set me straight. i cant sleep at night. these questions keep me up. the answer has not been given to me yet. btw the music will be ROCK and RAP but NOT like the limp bizkit stuff. its more on the RAP side.

ps THANKYOU for the advice given about the rack gear. i must say that the pre sonus blue tube is a piece of GARBAGE.

Record your tracks with the peaks as close to 0dB as possible without going over. You want to maximize your signal to noise but if you go over it sounds BAD. REAL bad. Digital clipping is nothing like analog.

Search in Newbies for posts by Tubedude... there are a couple of "tip-o-the-weeks" that cover this in decent detail.
Look em up, ask there.... :)
