tracking a wav file...

Hello all,

I am a DJ and have worked with sound forge for the past 3 years. With that program, traking a wav file was fairly simple; thus I would set markers>convert markers to regions>extract regions...then use ecdc5 platinum to compile the seperated files. By doing this, I could take a wav file: for example one that was 56 minutes long and break it into multiple tracks. This is a continious mix so I would set the trasition to 0 gap, therefore there would be no silence between the track changes. I am trying to figure out how to do this with cool edit pro, but have had no luck. I am familiar with dropping track markers in cool edit, then viewing the cue list..etc...however, each time I batch the files, then burn them to disc, it places a gap in between the tracks...even if I set the gap to 0. Can anyone tell me the best way to track a wav file within CEP...then save the files as mp3 to be placed together on a CD. Thanks in advance...

Dunno. 'Disk at once' when you burn the CD - doesn't that bung everything together with no gaps?

If you can't figure out how to do it in Cool Edit, I mean...

I've been trying to figure that one out too. What's the purpose of those track markers? If you can't split the wave into seperate tracks and write to CD, then why are they there?

I know it can be done with nero...you just set the gaps to 0.

yeah, well with ecdc5 platinum you have the option to set the gap to 0. However, it seems that when you set the track cues in CEP. even if you go in and edit the cue i.e. setting the start and end times to the exact measures, it still places a .1 sec of silence between the tracks. If you were to open the cue list and select autoplay...it plays and cues each seperation accordingly, but when you burn the individual files...even if you set a gap of 0, it places a gap in there...I know there must be a way. It seems to me that there must be a default somewhere in CEP. Someone is bound to figure this out soon. I'm gonna keep trying.

What I have been doing is editing my wave in CEP, then using Cakewalk Pyro to set track markers and burn to CD. You can easily do the 0 gap times. It's a great program for the money - around $30. It gives you a graphic of the wave form too, where as a lot of inexpensive CD writing programs don't.
