remember our BATT/cab/kick discussion?

well, when these guys came in today, one had a BassBase, which I think is pretty similar to the BATT preamp wise, so of course you know what I did :)

15" cab sitting in front of the kick, into the bassbase, then to tape (disc)

Im not sure how much of the "foomp" is gonna survive the mp3 encoding

this is kinda a traditional mix, hasnt been squashed to all hell, kinda vintage-ey, so not so bright. Hasnt been fixed up timingwise yet, or edited really...luckily these are older guys so dont really want the modern barf treble mix

anyhow these good sports are allowing me to stick mixes up as the instruments get added, so we'll see how this particular kick sound survives having a bass guitar to fight with...looks like I may have to cut and paste a few tom hits as the head croaked and a few were kinda funny sounding...also some snare hits that arent lined up right...the rest of the instruments turned out good, so well be editing this drum take

anyhow I hope I did thios nowhere radio thing right

man that is some furious kick action at beginning...hehe.

definitely has a nice thud to it, be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'm still gonna try that setup but I've been working on a emergency project for a band and haven't had a chance.

it works as a download, but somehow it wont stream

Pipe, is that only mic'ed with the speaker/BATT set up or is there a conventional mic in there too?

theres an ATM25 on it, but its muted in the mix you are hearing...this was mainly a mix to check out the range of sounds I could get with the cabinet...the hi end you hear, the presence, is actually the distortion from the bassbase preamp circuit...I was cranking the hell out of it but leaving the lows alone

I thought the kick sounded fine. I couldn't tell if it was through an amp or miked.

Did you have a short delay on the snare?

dude. you don't need no clinic. you should be teaching the clinic with this "experiment!"

Sennheiser, I was trying some new impulses for Accoustic Mirror, at the same time, on that snare

accoustic mirror is this neat software Sonic Foundry came up with a long time ago, but then like every other smart thing they were doing, stopped messing with it.

theres other apps to do the same thing now: altiverb, time stamp and some weird one for winamp

you fire a cap gun, or white noise burst into a room and mic it, the app then calcvulates the reverb characteristics of the room...soon people started running it thru preamps and things that it wasnt made for, but turned into a REALLY neat EQ

I just finished making some impulses ( recoveries from the model ) of the TC M5000 and Eventide 4000 and was trying them out on the snare

that wasn't me complaining, pipe... I was just impressed. that's all. the Kick does sound huge.

I didnt see any complaining...

oh boy are you guys gonna loose it when you hear the voice!!!!!!!!!!

remember, this guys main job is as the singer in an alice cooper tribute band

hey pipeline,

thats an awesome sounding kick. The punch is the best Ive heard in ages.

Did you compress it or is it this punchy naturally?

Why dont more people record the kick this way?

the distortion probably added a lot of compression, I didnt yet

i had to listen on low-fi for some reason, but it sounds pretty solid to me.............so is this just a test, or do you have a final output intended??
