Track Quality

Sup yall? I work out of my lil pre production studio, nothing major ( I can post what I use if yall curious) but I wanna know how the quality of my tracks sounds to yall. I track and send my work off to get mixed/mastered mostly but at times I handle the load. Goto http://www.soundclick.com/bands/9/bloodlinemusic.htm , the tracks Da South and Living To Die are the two tracks that I have sent off to be mixed/mastered, let me know what you think of the quality. Is it good enough to put into stores? radio? etc, holla bak
 
Livin' ta' Die - I like tha' track, mixin' sounds good, maybe a touch up on the verse vocals - soudnin' a touch bare, but that's nit-pickin'. I like this track.

Da S.O.U.T.H. - Don't like tha track as much as Livin' ta' Die, but there doesn't sound like there's anything wrong wit tha mixin'.


I'm not an expert though, just so ya' know.
 
Actually, from a mix perspective, they are both thin and brittle-sounding.

Mid-range presence is lacking - and it sounds like you went nuts with EQ - the highs sound boosted to the point of being shrill.

You didn't use a smiley-face EQ curve on the mix buss, did you??? :eek:

Overall - reasonable - but if you find yourself using EQ all the time, you should examine whether your recording technique is lacking, or there's an issue in your monitoring system that's causing you to exaggerrate EQ to compensate, or both!
