if I have multiple line ins on my sound card is there a way to record two tracks at the same time, each one corresponding to a different intput? Just wondering.

Yes, in multitrack. You can assign any/all mono inputs to separate tracks and record them simultaniousely (comp speed permitting), or record (multiple) stereo pairs to stereo tracks.

Edit mode is mono or stereo only and a bit more difficult to set up and change sources.
