It play's back fine and shows good levels when the track is selected.
I have cleaned the heads and de-mag but still no go.

Give Sweetwater Sound a call and talk to a repair techie. Won't cost you anything to discuss the problem.
Then, you can decide if you want to repair the track at Sweetwater or your vendor of choice.
