Track 8 on 388 won't record

Hello friends, I have a session this evening but my 388 won't seem to record audio on track 8. Any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

I can assign the channel to any other track just fine. Audio plays back on 8 in the mix section too.

A few weeks ago I had a problem where I couldn't play back audio in the mix section on track 8 either. Though it would record and play back in the Monitor section. I turned it on one day and it was fine! Are these issues related?

My apologies in advance if I'm just missing something obvious.

Check that the "Sync" switch is "Off",...

...[Sync or Trk-8 Dbx Defeat is off]...

& that the recording head is spotlessly clean.

Got it, I should have checked this earlier. Channel 3 won't send the signal to track 8. Every other channel gets it there as normal. Wierd. Thanxx!

Sounds like...

maybe the right side of the 7/8 assign button on channel 3 is not making good contact? (dirty/cold solder joint, etc)
