This watered down reggae inspired flavoring features a 60's style lead organ solo!!

No, C ... I am still NOT going to turn this one into an 80's rocker. :D

Colors of the Day

Thanks again in advance for both help and patience whilst I complete the last stage of the project. There's not too many more coming (the compilation is 10 songs).

PLEASE mention anything that might sound off, for any and all comments about any and all things are warmly appreciated.

Best,

i like this. you really know how to get a nice loud sound! and the jefferson airplane sound, and you did the john lennon thing when you said "day" that one time. i love that! nice harmonies too! oh this organ solo is too cool! i love that sound. and the guitar is doing the thing i like. oh yea, nice guitar solo. im seeing the colors of the day with it. pianos twinkling, and now you said the lennon thing on 'sunrise.' great job!

Thanks J!

I'm thinking I need to nudge the bass git up a db or so ... but then call this one a wrap.

I don't think the bass needs more vol - maybe a nudge at a defining point - say 3khz.
This isn't too anaemic - at least the rhythm git isn't masked by effects al la police.
The panning on the organ solo isn't helpful - as the initial melodic element is broken up into vamping the panning dissolves it even more.
I like the guitar solo but it seems a bit redundant after the organ - it actually is constructed better - esp the return to the rhythm.
Nice song - just the structure that worries me.

Cool song, Kev! Nice caribbean feel to it....:D
Recording sounds great to me. I would put harmonies on the chorus to make it stand out. Nice voice! Great job!

Joe:):)

Initially Ray, I had a brutal leslie on the organ solo, which if listened to on headphones, induced involuntary vomiting and dizziness. This is a much toned down version ... and I personally like the swirl effect ... it's different ... and sort of oddly detaches the part.

I also don't worry too much about structure, in the sense that since I always anticipate losing money on every album ... then I might as well just scratch whatever creative itch I fancy and not worry too much about it. After all, I'm the one paying for it. :D

Hey Joe! I liked the bgv idea so much that at one point in development, I experimented with them in the chorus . The thing was ... they didn't sound that good w/ just me doing them (too homogeneous). If I only had a backing chorus of ... I'd go w/ two female voices and a male with a higher range, then I think it would have blended MUCH better.

Consequently, I was sort of forced to make the decision to leave them out ... for the tune suffered some by their inclusion. It's "cleaner" and less cheezy w/o them.

Great idea, though! I liked it so much that I already tried it! :D

Thank you both!
