Hey all - I bought one of those ill-reputed but beautiful sounding velocettes awhile ago. I heard all the stink about the faulty transformers, so I ordered a new one from Gibson (they sent it to me for free, very cool).
Anyway, I have had it for a year now. On a few occasions, I left it on (not on standby) for about 18 hours - once I left it on for about three days! So far, no blowup. I have heard that the later Velocettes were equipped with updated transformers. Do you think this one is good, given the history? Or should I still be expecting it to blow any day now?
Any amp techs out there with insight?
I keep dreading the day it dies at a gig in the middle of a great set...
