Okay, I've just worked a few days putting this together.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=yZO0sC3T16jpr8zQLadoGw_3d_3d

This could be interesting when its done. All of us have varying perceptions of these mics.

Please react only to the mics you've had first-hand experience using in the studio. If you feel you have a 'vague' memory of the mic, try to refrain from marking it. Someone else will respond. This can come together through 'collective' response.

Also, if there are some models you'd like in this list, please let me know and I will get them in there. It's around 600+ mics at this point.

You list two models of the Hamburg and Vienna (the II and the MK8), but you don't list the original Hamburg and Vienna as far as I could tell. Might be worth including those.

Also, presenting it one page per manufacturer like that is fine, but the first page should be a link to the other pages. It would take ages to find and comment on a particular mic if you have to alphabetically go through a page per manufacturer. :)

maybe as a first question, list all the mics that are in the survey, then we can choose the mics that we have experiance with, and those will be the only ones that we are asked about....cuz to tell you the truth, I have no interrest in thumbing through all those pages of mics....

you have a whole list of ADK mics, but the only 2 that I own are not in the list....the Model TL and a model TC GK67

I'm a little confused. You make 2 posts and both link to this SurveryMonkey thing. What's the deal??

If you're looking for answers, why don't you just ask?

Someone suggested to me that it's a marketing tactic. If so, it could only be for a mic whose manufacturer started with A. Who the hell is going to lurch through hundreds of pages?

All I can say is, it seems like a pretty poor way to design a survey (see thajeremy's post for a better idea).

And maybe if the original poster would use something approaching a real name, we might have more confidence in the entire thing.

His other survey post was about engineering, but I didn't go through to see if it wreaked of spam or not. I'm not quite sold on the idea of deleting it just yet. :D Waiting to see if he responds.

No marketing tactics here, just trying to help. It appears we need to know where we've been to know where we could possibly be going.

Anybody been to Harmony-Central? They've got a great idea, just shy of what it could be to be really useful.

Engineers are generally obsessive/compulsive, no?

Work through this methodically and revisit it on a daily basis! You'll get through it eventually and the end result will be useful!

How about a sub-title page with the alphabet link to each mic manufacturer. I have a whole bunch of mics but not one that starts with every letter.
