toslink adat question

Are these connections compatible? Say I have a AW4416 with and ADAT output which I want oto connect to TOSLINK input on my soundcard will the signal be recognized?

The connectors are the same, but your s/w will be the determining factor on what it does with the signal.... will it read the ADAT Lightpipe data stream, or is it expecting only a 2-channel data stream on those inputs..............

Only your manual knows........

If the sound card is TOSLINK it's probably S/PDIF 2 channel only and won't know what to do with the ADAT optical 8 channel information. But give it a try. It'll either work or just won't recognize the incoming data.
