Awww...tough! I was just bringing a little levity to a subject that seems to get on some poster's nerves. It wasn't meant as a personal attack, I leave that to you...

Actually, I think he covered all the bases on this one. Perhaps it should be part of the microphone FAQ.

personal fav right there

if you used a subkick to mic up with, you'd have to tie the rapper to the back wall to stop him being pulled in by the magnet  :D

Am I the only one finding this list immature, closed-minded, and worst of all, not funny? And I don't like rap/hiphop at all...

No, I'm with you. I don't care one way or another about rap/hip-hop either

This is tired already.

Now that I'm awake. You have a total of 9 posts and you're saying this? Enough people found it amuzing to reply. Why? Because it seems like every few days or so, someone asks "what's the best mic for rap vocals".There was a poll not long ago about the most annoying question asked here and at the time I read that post, the "best for rap vocals" was voted highest on the list.Still might be in fact...you're welcome to check for yourself. Just do a search and use "Rap vocals" and see how many hits you get. This post was for all the people who have seen and responded to that question over and over.

Funny how those that responded don't even like Rap, but seem to slam me on a personal level, yet the one rapper that responded started a thread (or two) about rock vocalists. Am I all bent out of shape about it? Was he? Probably not,he had a sense of humor about it...it's all in good fun, nothing personal. Liten up...

How's it go again? Oh yeah...

SHUT YOUR FILTHY PIEHOLE!!!

I think posts like these show how much ignorance there is towards rap music.

A lot of members of the BBS obviously form their opinion about rap music, and hip hop in general, based on the extreme things they see on TV.
Everybody here just yaps on about the whole list of cliche-bullshit they think is typical for the genre.

Hip hop is not about mouthpieces encrusted with diamonds, not about Ferraris nor about half naked women pooring Cristal over themselves in a bubble bath.

For people that DO want to know about what it IS about, please find out fot yourself if you have any genuine interest in it...

other than that....posting shit like this is in the same league as basing your opinion on metal just by looking at a Slipknot video, or saying that all Country music is bubblegum because Shania Twain is.

Beyond music, people keep putting down an entire subculture, based on ridiculous big-tv-company images....

if you don't know anything about something...don't say anything.

If I want poems recited over background music, I will listen to Jack Kerouac , Amiri Baraka, Allen Ginsberg, or William S. Burroughs. Yeah, they were doing it in the 40s and 50s, way before Guru,Slick Rick, De La Soul and "hip hop" hit the airwaves..

if you don't know anything about something...don't say anything

but what if I know everything about two things, but half a thing about something and two things about that thing and anything about everything?

sorry guys....spend a little more time around the mic forum....I thought it was funny as hell....so sue me....

No one will claim he or she has invented using spoken word with music...spoken word over music had been around ever since people have had stories.

rap is outselling other genres - deal with it or be a dinosaur.

Mo-Kay,

I think posts like these show how much ignorance there is towards rap music.

The post was whatever you read into it. Again, it was not to start a rock/rap war. It was about seeing the same question on this board, if not this forum, over and over again. It's about Rap and vocal mics.Had the posts been about Britney Spears mics, rock mics, radio talkshow mics, I would have run with that respective genre. But no, it's about the mic best for Rap, because that's the subject that seems to pop up the most

posted yesterday

Poll posted 6/2/06 winner by more than double any other catagory...."What is the best mic for rap vocals?"

and that's just THIS MONTH AlONE!

A lot of members of the BBS obviously form their opinion about rap music, and hip hop in general, based on the extreme things they see on TV.

I'm sure the Netherlands, your home, might have some exposure to Rap, but do you think maybe those of in the U.S. might form an opinion of Rap based on the fact that is was created here and has been around for well over twenty years? It's not only in videos, it's on movie sound tracks, heard clearly from passing cars, mall parking lots, commercials, Campus...the list goes on and on. Since you are from overseas and the whole Rap culture started here, I'd be interested to know on what you base YOU'RE opinion about Rap??? I would imagine that you're probably less exposed to it than the U.S.,but probably get your dose the same way we do over here...the media.

Hip hop is not about mouthpieces encrusted with diamonds, not about Ferraris nor about half naked women pooring Cristal over themselves in a bubble bath.
For people that DO want to know about what it IS about, please find out fot yourself if you have any genuine interest in it...

You say what Hip hop is not about, and offer no insite as to what you think it IS about. Tell you what, you post here what Rap is all about and I bet someone will probably have a totally different viewpoint that is no less legit. What Rap or any music is all about is really a personal thing don't you think?

other than that....posting shit like this is in the same league as basing your opinion on metal just by looking at a Slipknot video, or saying that all Country music is bubblegum because Shania Twain is.

No it is not.It is YOUR perception of what I posted...not the post's intent. It was intended as a little humor about an otherwise exhausted subject. Put it this way...do you think "This is Spinal Tap" is a horrible discoloration of Rock bands and should be treated to the same type of "politically correct" responses that this thread seemed to produce? Looking at the original post, do you really think this was my best attempt to bash Rap? Again, not my intention..

if you don't know anything about something...don't say anything.

So if you don't know anything about the history of Rap mics threads on this board, don't say anything. If you misunderstood the original intent of the post, which incidently was clearly explained prior to your post, don't say anything. You know nothing about how each individual reading this thread formed their opinion of rap,so don't say anything. Lastly, many of us live in the United States of America...we are allowed by law to express our opinion about anything we damn well please. We call it "freedom of speech".
