Hello all,

I redid the vocals and added some whacked effects to it. Yes Im trying to get a really weird sound, but I think it works with this type of music. Let me know what you think about this mix. I appreciate any advice and input. Hope you like it and play it at a louder than usual volume. Thanks.

Hmmm... no way I'm registering at MP3 just to play a tune... what the hell is that, are they nuts????

Sorry John... maybe if you did nowhereradio or somewhere else that doesn't require users to register..........

Bruce

register = unneccassary

you dont need to register there at all.
the just ask those questions, and for all they care if culd be 45wywrety@aol.com and zip code 12345, and it will accept it. It's just to see what kind of listeners listen to what music. for stat purposes only.

Actually, mp3.com does sell the information. Says so in the privacy statement..... I always use false info, but it cookies the hell outta your browser, and tracks your usage! What a pain!

.....okayy....is there anyone out there that doesnt have something against mp3.com and will listen to my song?

I listened. I liked another song of yours better, I forget what it's called, but it was really friggin catchy. I have it on my computer at home, and now I realize I have to not delete it, because you took it off your mp3.com page.

Anyway, regarding this song, I still think your drums need to be a little more out front. I know there's a kick in there somewhere... and the snare is soft. However, the hi hats are clear as day. Maybe turn up the "cut" in Fruity on those hats.

Your vocals are cool, but you're still just a little short on attitude. A little hesitant. I like the effects on them too.

Thanks for the reply Charger. What do you mean wheres the kick? What are you listening on?

Yeah, I uploaded a few of my better songs, theyll be there one of these days. I think its "Never Knew" that all lot of people liked. I redid the vocals on that one with your advice about more attitude in the singing. Youll have to let me know about that when its up. Thanks again.

I listened at home on Alesis M1 actives, and on AKG240 headphones. I think the kick was lacking some definition. I'm listening now at work in consumer headphones, and I'm still missing the kick somewhat. What kind of monitor system are you using? The thing that is most striking to me about your mixes is that the guitar tends to dominate the drums, and you bury your vocals a little. But I tend to be able to hear your vocals pretty well, it's just the drums that get a little buried. I would just drop the guitar tracks about 5%-10%, bring the kick up a little, and add a little more pop to it. Maybe add a little boost at around 200-300Hz for a little more snap in the kick, and add a little boost at around 80 Hz to the overall kick boom. Or just bring the kick up a little overall. It's really hard for me to diagnose what exactly is wrong with the kick tone, because it's almost buried under heavy guitar sounds.

That is so weird about not hearing a lot of the kick. (Dont Laugh), but i only use my aiwa stereo speakers as reference monitors and then i mix down and listen to the mix in my car with doesnt have a bad sound system. And the kick in both senerios really drive. Im starting to think maybe something happened during the conversion true audio > mp3.

Youre right about the guitars being the driving source, i think that is just my style though, cause to my ears when I turn the guitars down when im mixing, I never feel like its right so back up they go.

Charger, can I send you a cd with all my songs on it burned fresh from my AkaiDPS? And do you use FruityLoops? Cause I could zip up my file and send it to you and then you could hear it on your set up.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Everything-final version.

Just listened and a couple things stick out.
The vocal is all but lost as far as clarity and dynamics. The guitars rule the song ( as they should) but, it is a tyranic leadership.
The drums are reduce to a dull backround thud and it git is hogging up everything.
I think you've the right idea about having the gits so prominant but, they take over in a selfish, depriving sort of way.

Maybe remix at a lower overall level. Keep the guitar tracks as the driving force but, let the rest be heard and then boost the entire mix to get your hot punch.

I can tell that this song rocks hard, my ear says give all the elements a presence in the mix.

Nice tracking and git tone/crunch.

Peace,
Theron.

Thanks Theron for the reply, but how low should i try a mix down at. Im kinda confused because i always read about mixing at a little higher than normal to hear everything.
And about the vocals what did you mean by all but lost. Is that a good thing or a bad thing. They are suppost to be spacy.

Thanks again.

john

By a low level, I meant that it might help to hear that everything is represented and the guitar is still the engine of the song. As of now, the git has too much of the finite headroom. Get the mix balanced AND THEN make it loud. (if my observation on your intentions and method for a hot mix are correct)

The vocal comment is an opinion. I think it could stand to be hotter or more prominant. There is a fine line between spacy and lost. If the track is buried, then the quality of "spaceyness" and all other qualities are buried as well.
This is just MY ear talking, so take the comments as you will.

Again, this song has a great groove to it.

Theron
