Here's my take on the eerily prophetic "Too Much Junkie Business" by the late ex-New York Dolls guitarist and NY punk scene bigwig, Johnny Thunders.

Any comments - good or bad - welcome and appreciated.

Really good Greg - I like the version you've done, it has a modern flavor but still retains that raw rock and roll feel. I especially like your guitar work but the drums are not too shabby either. Good one....

:) :D :) :D

Thank you ido. Much appreciated. :)

So, anyone, hows the mix? This is a simple song, but the mix gave me more trouble than i thought it would.

actually i got nothing really to pick at, i love all the levels, sounds, vox. the onlything i might say is it gets a bit anoing how the guitar keeps sliding down at the end of each riff. it sounds cool but it's a bit oo often. but other than that. mixing wise i can't find anything to pick at.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the feedback. :)

That 'slide' is how its done in the original version. So in trying to keep it accurate, I did it too. Mr. Thunders wasnt the most technically versatile guitarist of all time, so he used lots of slides and bluesy licks to create his own style. You'll find that pretty much every New York Dolls or Thunders song has the same style riffs and lead stuff.

Anyway, thanks for listening. :)

Awesome!!!This sounds great to me...no nits here....vocals are packed with the right 'tude!Guitar sound real good as well, very nice playing...havent heard the original, but I think I wanna check out some NY Dolls stuff out after hearing this...I actually think they just put out a new album and have gotten some decent reviews...annny wayyys ...this kicks man...great job!!!

If you are really interested in checking out some NY Dolls stuff, forget the new album. The 'talent' of the band is literally dead (there are only 2 living original members), and the new album is pretty lame and tries a little too hard compared to their original stuff. They only released 2 true studio albums - New York Dolls & Too Much Too Soon - back in the early 70's, and after that Johnny Thunders went on to form The Heartbreakers. Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers was a great band. So basically, just check out the 2 Dolls albums and Thunder's solo stuff and you'll be good-to-go. ;)

Can't believe i missed this. Love it man. No real mix advice from me but thought you did the song justice for sure. Specially like the lead tone, fits perfectly.

cool cover man

take care

Can't thnik of what I'd change

To me it sounds like the Ramones doing the Dolls.

And what little I've heard of the new Dolls album, yeah, stick with the original. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't the Dolls.

Nice job!!! Only nit I have is that the kick and snare could be out front a bit more. Very cool!!!!

NotCardio - Thanks a lot. The Ramones and the Dolls are big influences to me. I appreciate that. :)

jpw23 - Thank you. I have a slightly re-worked version on my soundclick page (in my sig) in which I addressed the drums a little. Have a listen if you'd like. Thanks for the input. :)

Good job Greg. Nice guitar tone and your vocals fit the song well.

Chinese Rocks was exactly the Heart Breakers doing the dolls doing the ramones doing the dolls- - & the brawl over writing ownership.
Greg - IZ GUT, Now if you could just perfect the 1,2,3,4!
