I'm recording a song for my wedding, it's the first dance. I've been playing around with the recording of drums and giving all the elements in the mix their own space.
I'm recording this on a VS-840EX with 250Mb Zip Disk. I just want to know if you guys think I'm going overboard. The sounds are coming from a drum machine. This is what I'm looking at doing:
1 track for the Kick Drum
1 track for the Snare Drum
1 track for the hi-hat
2 tracks for cymbals (2 different cymbals of different tracks)
4 tracks for Toms
I'm planning on bouncing the cymbals to a stereo track then bouncing the tom's and cymbals to their own stereo track, then bouncing again with the Kick Drum and Snare.
Other than these tracks I'm going to record again for separation are (all are from a sound canvas):
3 tracks for Strings
1 track for Cello
1 track for Clarinet
I'd bounce the 3 tracks of strings and the cello to a stereo track and leave the Clarinet on it's separate track.
After all that I'll record 2 lead vocals (it's a duet).
Am I biting off too much for me to chew or do people go to the same extent as what I'm planning to do? I'd love to hear your feedback.
