thanks for all the help, I've just changed jobs, so the extra cash will start coming in next week =)

4. Click on the Advanced tab and set the I/O Buffer Size to 256. I changed from 64 to 256 and it seemed to do the job so far, just waiting to see how many tracks it can handle before i get a dropout.

I also had this problem with sonar 3 when recording/playing 10 tracks, and the IO buffer size fixed it.

BTW, I run a Celeron 1.7ghz with 512mb of ddr266 and a 5400rpm 2mb buffer hard drive (with the OS on it too). I can record 10 tracks at 48khz 24bit no problems. For playback I can have Compression, Reverb, and EQ on every channel, again no problems.

oh, so I wasnt the only one lol, All seems to be going well once i changed that. Thanks for all your help guys,

make sure to get the latest directx (9.0c?)and get latest drivers for your 1010lt... either of these might help you speed up even if the prob is already fixed...
lower latency = higher happiness

a lot of software and hardware uses directx multimedia as a thru.. aka cubase directx multimedia setup... some hardware even uses directx as the main drivers (though many have their own), plus all your DX plugins....
either way its a free upgrade and it definately wont hurt.

I check for upgrades for all my drivers frequently (nvidia, layla, DX, etc.)

theres a reason for all the upgrades = improved performance
