Mad Scientist
I'm on the fence about this tune. I recorded it a couple years ago and am wondering if I should re-record it or if this version is good enough. There are a few issues I'm aware of, I'd like to see how much they bother you guys. The song is called "Running for my Life"... though these words don't appear anywhere in the song :)
Thanks for your input.

thumbs up on the song!

good song! I really like the vocals..

the recording sounds pretty mono to me.. It might be maiximized a bit too much.. the whole mix sounds pretty close to clipping imop.. I thought I heard a timing mistake or two.. The vocals sound a bit low in some parts.. I noticed it more in the second half of the tune..

Other than the things I mentioned, really good song! The recording could be a lot better though..

I'm missing the bass drum also. Very good tune and a great voice. Nice guitar licks... [whispers]damn I wish I could play like that[/whispers]

Thanks for checking it out guys. That's what I thought. When I originally recorded the song I had never intended it to be a final version. We were just fucking around in the studio. But as you can tell, there are a lot of parts that got added... and my band is happy with it as it is and considers it finished.
I think it could be a lot better, which you guys have confirmed for me. I could fix most everything except I only have the drums on two tracks. They were V-drums, and I only recorded the stereo outs. (I have already kicked my self for not getting the MIDI) But, I'm having a hard time with the V-Drums on other songs as well. They just are not the same.
Boy the problem with this BBS is everything you did over 6 months ago sounds like it could be better :) I did this 3 years ago and thought it wasn't that bad. I guess that's what I get for taking this long on a project.

Pretty nice recording. Good singing.

I heard the lead guit clipping in spots. It could be brought down because it's fairly high in the mix. Nice tone on it though. I liked that.

I thought the acoustic guit sounded pretty nice, but lacked just a little bit of presence.

Little timing problem at 2:15.

Liked the instrumental thing in and around 2:20-3:00 or so

Some clipping going on in the 2:50's and from 3:35 - 4:00. More later on. Lots more as a matter of fact. It's a real loud mix, probably louder than it needs to be.

My thoughts. Trip...

Good call trip (and Sabbath)... I had completely forgotten the timing problem at 2:15. I now remember doing some splicing at that very point. I believe I recorded the Acoustic guitar direct, which could definately help exsplain their general lifelessness. Thanks for the helpfull comments, I'll post a new mix as soon as I can.

Very cool tune!

What are those V-drums they sound good to me?

also like the guitar work

im on phones....
vocals sweet. i thought the drums sounded pretty nice, sound and level wise...the lead guitar could come down just a touch....i didnt like the shuffle feel instrumental part...it seemed to not gel right.....the drums in that part sound great tho the cymbals especially..if you can i would bring the hihat level in relation to the rest of the kit down a bit.....yeah the last heavier lead part while stylistically kickass sounds hot.?...maybe?...

cool tune man...
post more.....

love that held vocal note ....!!
