Toneport or Pod Studio?

Hello All,

I'm fairly new to the world of digital recording (in the past I've done it all on a yamaha MD4S...).

I've got a macbook pro with garageband, which i'm fairly comfortable with. My question is should I get the Line 6 Pod Studio UX2, which to be honest I can't really afford, or the older and cheaper Toneport UX2?

I'll be recording mainly acoustic guitar and vocals, but I'm also looking to dabble in some electric guitar overdubs and some bass. I also plan to add some basic drum loops in Garage Band.

Will the Toneport UX2 and the bundled software suffice? Is it compatible with Garageband?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

You can get some cheaper USB interfaces that will do the trick if you don't need the guitar FX/ amp sims.

Toneport will work, make sure you get it bundled with Gearbox or the Pd Farm software, though. Guitarport sells for $99 and includes Gearbox.
