To anyone who uses a MIDIMAN DIO 24/48

Recently I decided to purchase a MIDIMAN DIO 24/48, but to make sure on last time, tell me why the 24/96 is any better? I am simply transferring digital tracks in realtime from a VS880 using Cakewalk. Is the 24/48 good enough to create a professional sound? Also, can I use my already-installed SBLive! for MIDI timing?

As far as I know the only difference between the two is that last number:the 48 accepts up to 48khz sample rate,whereas the 96 goes up to 96khz,so if your gear goes to 96,you need it ,otherwise not.Cheers!

It really depends on what you plan to do with the audio after you transfer it. If you're just transferring a master, then it's probably best just to match the bit-width and sample rate of the master (probably 16/44.1). If you plan to do a lot of processing after you transfer the audio, then it's reccommended to use as many bits and as high a sampling rate as you can afford. This topic comes up so often that I plan to write something up in the next couple of months. Take a look at www.digido.com -- there's a lot of information there.
