To anybody who has used diskfaktory for duplication

I think I've decided to go with diskfaktory (http://www.diskfaktory.com) for duplication on my next project (the pro pack - 100 cd's for $200). My question concerns the uploading of tracks vs. sending in a master.

I've got CD Architect, so I'm confident I could send them a red book master, but I've got a high speed connection, so I'd like to upload my 16/44.1 wav files. I've got 12 tracks, at about 3 to 4 mins per track, so uploading all that could get hairy, but I would rather do that than wait on the mail.

What have you done before - uploaded files or sent in a master on a CDr? Is there any advantage of one over the other (besides the time it takes for your cd to get there). I suppose if you made your own master, you would KNOW that the songs are in the correct order, etc, but if you uploaded your files, you wouldn't have to worry about errors on your end from your writer, etc.

I've searched through all the threads about diskfaktory, and I've never run across this question. If it's been discussed, please link to the thread.

Thanks!

Honestly, I'd take the time to send them a physical master CD, in the proper song order with proper spacing. With these kinds of deals, it's usually "what you get is what they get". If there's any...ANY...glitches in the upload/download transfer, how will you or they know? They're not going to send you a test pressing. They're only copying CD-r's. Not that there's anything wrong with that...just that, if I was to do this...I'd want to make sure the problem didn't come from my end. Make a master at the slowest burning speed you have, play it back and listen to the whole thing carefully, then pack it and ship it overnight. It'll be worth the effort. My .02.

Good advice, and put that way, I agree 100%.

FYI I have found recently some STUPENDOUS deals on disk REPLICATION for about the same price as diskfactory's DUPLICATION. Shop arround a little and you can get a much better quality prodict at a much lower price...

Replication would be ideal, but I've NEVER seen anybody offer replication for a run of 100, at least not for $200 with color inserts and color cd printing (that's about all I can afford for now). If you've got a link, post it up - I'd appreciate it!

Hey! ok, when we were putting out our 4 song demo, I transfered the massive files over to diskfactory. It went fine. We just did a spindle of 100 for $75 or whatever the hell it was, so we didn't really need to worry about artwork. However, our actual CD is at the mastering house now and i think we'll use Diskfactory for the PROMO copies of the cd...probably the same thing you're talking about ($200 for 100 copies), and we'll be using http://www.diskmakers.com for the actual CDs we'll be selling (the DigiPacks). If you can probably just transfer over the artwork as well, but I'm probably going to mail (or just drop off as they've got a location near where i work) the masters and artwork, cuz i've got a comp i've worked up to make sure the colors are close.

to make a long story short, you should be able to transfer the files without too much problem with a high speed connection.

good luck!

I've used Diskfaktory several times... (Pro Pack)...
I have to second what RickW said... send them a cd... that way you know that it is free of errors and the track spacing, etc will be exactly the way you want it.

Warning though - they will not send you or display online, the artwork as a proof. you have to be absolutely certain that the artwork is EXACTLY as you want it (colors, layout, etc.)

good luck!

Thanks for the response. I went ahead and ordered the Pro Pack. It should be here around the 5th or 6th of Jan. I have a feeling it will turn out nice.
