Is there any comparing of these units? I know there is a huge price difference but the Sebs are handbuilt which would up the cost.

Dot has recommended the 5001 to me and others... & I've seen the HHB stuff in a few studios.

When people talk about stacking tracks and the detail you get on individual tracks from good pres... will the 5001 stack?

Or do you think this unit would be like getting 4 VTB-1 in a box?

Thanks,
B.

Thanks... the Sytek is actually on my list. The 2 above are Tube Pres that I'm looking to for color. & I plan to get either Sytek or RNP for the nuetral.

i'm not sure about the hhb version but the TL audio version is sweet. its not one of these tube blend circuits designed to distort that mix with a solid state ciruit. the mic amp is soild state and the line output amp is tube.

because the ouput is not tranformer balanced the unit is comparativly cheap, but you can't tell from the sound. transformers probally have around about the same colouration as the tubes so i would guess the other unit will have more of that vntage sound if thats what your after.

sound wise they are really detailed with a hint of Tube sound.
