I purchased a tl audio c-1 preamp/compressor a few month's ago. It is in the same valve classic product line as the pm-1 preamp. To my ears the tl preamps sounded masively better to me than my trusty audiobuddy preamp. My tracks were clearer and more detailed. That is the only comparrison I can give. I would think that the c-1 and the pm-1 are different preamps though because the price is so similar between the two.

i think the pm-2 has pentodes in, as oposed to triodes in the C-1. triodeds are ment to have a nicer mid, whereas pentodes have nicer highs and lo-s ( so i'm told- i dont have any gear with pentodes in).

big kenny, npstudios in boston uses alot of the tl audio pre's. Might want to check out the website.
