Okay, so I dont have all the cash in the world to build an amazingly HUGE studio.... so all I have is

+ 6 channel ( XENYX 802 ) Mixer
+ Kristal Recording Software ( I think it's Brilliant )
+ Cheapo Capasitor Mic
+ Pretty okay Studio Speakers
+ Bell Laptop
+ Keyboard
+ Some foam behind mic ( for the acoustics bouncing )

OKay...So is that a good enough setup to make something of it ? I can maybe give a link of a song I did ?

Feedback, Go crazy guyz..

My link

OKay, so it's a bit late for me. 11pm, and i ran a 2 hour jog, so my energy levels euals down !! haha...so ignore my bad singing... but just listen and tell me if the quality is good and any advice !!

http://www.savefile.com/files/1949703

the song is short. it's just chorus and bridge...covering linkin park faint !
just give advice on the mixing ! thanks.:o

Thanks !

I couldn't get the link to work. maybe I'll try again later.

It doesn't really matter what equipment you have, it's how you use it that's important.;). Better equipment will only sound better in the right hands. That's a good starter setup and once you gain experience you can think about upgrading.

The mix sounds ok, although i don't really know what I'm listening to. Did you record all of the instruments?

unfortunately, the link now works, but is asking me to download an .ogg file to hear it, which I'm not inclined to do. Either find a place to deep link your material (lightningMP3.com) or hit a MySpace or Soundclick storage place and I think you'll get more listens. Also the MP3 forum would be a better place too.

One last thing...that site had some advertising pop up, that if I was at work, the wife looking over the shoulder...etc... well... I could do without.

hey guyz,

Pandamonk:
yeah my equioment is cheap, but thanks for the comment....in the song i did the guitar... three guitar peices over layering, and drums and then the vocals....

but thanks again, i'll put one of my own songs up...!

Mixmkr:
I was in a bit of a rush to upload the file that's why i used that site..
the ogg file is like a mp3. according to me it's just better. if you have ''vlc media player'' then you'll be able to listen to it. ''vlc media player'' can play ANY media file and ANY video file ! it's the best media software out there !

Well anywayz..

Cheers guyz !

Christopher,
If you want folk to listen to it you need to make it easy for them.
Set up a soundclick account so it'll play streamer as well as allow downloads or use lightningmp3 which is well set up for downloads.
Post in MP3 format - it's not as good as wav. but is acceptable for the purpose. S/click has quality limits but lightning doesn't.
.ogg is a rarity around here as mac use is also becoming - but even macheads post in mp3 for the universality of it.
The gear you currently have is far better than the gear I did my 1st PC recording with so put energy into doing good work then upgrade as & when you can.
Oh & this forum is basically about the physical structures of a studio - you'll get more and perhaps more pertinent answers in the newbie forum.
