Not bad, for just getting started. It's a lot better than my first couple. You'll find that your trax get better as you get better sounds, but you have some good drum programming going on. You might want to start differentiate the verses from the hook part, by adding some different sounds, and use transition sounds like chimes, lasers, or cymbal cresiendos to move from verses to hooks, and vice versa. What I did was flip samples until I got the sound modules I wanted. May not be your thing, but it's up to you. Check my site to see what I'm talking about.

Whatz up..

Whats good Dock and Bread, both of ur shit is hott.but i can definitely tell who's got more backround witt it.For u being new Bread ur beats are nice, and wanted to see if u guyz would help me out?I wanna start making beats! i'm 2nice wit the keyboard, guitar, and sax.I've been playing instruments my whole life but never put my skillz to use.I recorded two beats about 3 months ago wit this dude that was using a MV-8000.The beats came out aight but the drums he used wit my sounds wasing fitting it.I dont talk to this cat no more and just have a computer, and want to get a my own setup going and wanted to know whats a good program/good way to get some phat drums, samples etc...?

I would suggest Reasons. Propellerheads got some real nice sounds. Also, if your a musician making the transition to a producer (believe me there is a difference) I would suggest gettin with someone who's been doing it for a while and collabing with them, so you can really get the feel for producing.

Not bad for starting out. Here's some info: These are tips that I always give new producers.

Try getting other sounds then just what you get with software. Layer your sounds. Play around with the melody a little more. Have instruments come in at a certain parts. When you make a beat, think of each instrument as a person in an orchestra. Each person waits for their part. You are the director. You tell what happens next. Make each instrument have an impact on the production. One instrument may just come in at a small part in the production, but the moment and time can add feelin... And when you add instruments, think of how they react with each other. Does it clash? Does it sound good?
Remember, more sounds in a production doesn't always more. Less is more.

good look...

Thankz for the info Dock, but i dont know anyone that does producing besides that one dude wit the mv-8000,thats why i was just gonna do it myself and work at it hard.Someone else did mention reason to me so i'm gonna go check it out tommorow at sam ash.Do u use this program? Also do u use drum loops wit ur beats or do u create it wit ur program?because the way i did it before wit the mv-8000 is the guy would put a drum loop on and have me record over it wit the keyboard, then guitar and then he would add kicks and breaks to the beat.It sounded ok but not what i'm looking for..

Thankz again...

Ya, Reason is the way ta go for us. Buy refills and get sound samples. We like ta make our own loops, but will use loops to get started at times doe ideas...

Thankz for the advice!I'm probably gonna go wit reason 3.0.As far as plug-ins is there anytype of audio interface that u would recommend or sound card?I have a keyboard that i wanna use..

Hey Beatsbuy i just listen to ur beats on soundclick.definitely off the wall shit.big ups to u and murdock. What kind of setup do u got going besides the program, use any samplers or keyboards?

Well, we got Pro Tools and reason. We do all the vocals on Pro Tools and sync Reason to Pro Tools via rewirefor the beat. This way we can mix down the beat and the vocals at once. For plug-ins in Pro Tools, can't go wrong with Waves...

I vote for Reason and ProTools too.... It's just too bad we can't have VST without a $99 program (fxpansion brand), when there are free programs out there with VST....

I listened to your beats up there man... Sounds good for getting started for real! Keep it up and keep us in the loop when you make new material... :)

I don't mess with Pro Tools but Reason is my shit and everybody knows it LOL :) Anyway, sounds good, keep grindin'.

Thankz...

What about midi controllers?do any of u guyz use a midi controller wit reason?

I went the economical route when I bought my "controller" (which was 3+ years ago)... Casio baby!!... I can only recently say that I'm honestly outgrowing it... But hey, if you got money to burn... Strike a match!

Aight thankz for the input!yo i checked out ur songs on soundclick..that my city is a banger.do u sell ur beats?

Yeah Beatsbuy got the crack music over there. I'm just getting into Reasons, so I'm a little unfamiliar with it. But I do record to Pro-tools. For the longest I've been using a Triton, an ASR-10, and a MP 2000 (I love banging on pads, as opposed to hitting keys for a beat). I don't use break loops, I create my own drum patterens. As far as midi controllers, I using a Radium 61 key. You don't have to spend that much on a midi controller. Have you checked your current keyboard to see if it can work?

Thankz again....

yeah i actually just found that it has midi portz on it.So i can just use this right?
is there any quality difference if i use the keyboard over a actuall midi controller?
whats the ASR-10?is this what u use for ur drum patternz?sorry about all the questionz i'm just trying to get started. All u guyz are some good people, and i appreciate the help greatly.
