Tips about recording vinyls to PC

Hi there. I need to record some tracks from old vinyl records to the PC and then burn them to CD.
I've checked these tutorials: http://www.blazeaudio.com/howto/lp-overview.html and
http://www.cnet.com/Music/4520-7899_1-5127168-1.html?tag=more
and downloded the software specified, but nothing - NADA.

I've got a Notebook with pIV Intel processor with integrated audio card + a nice external M-Audio Firewire 410. Do I need more? grrrrr...

Surely some nice folks here have the experience to tweak here and there and get the job done (easily?).

Thanks a lot in advance for your Help -- Marco.

Marco , You will need a turntable , and also some kind of phono pre amp to run the turntable into , then run the phono pre amp into your inputs of your M Audio 410.
I scanned the site you listed for Gold Wave , after You hook up the hardware as I suggested, it's merely as simple as getting a lp on the turntable, opening the software You are using , and hit record. ( I know I over simplified that )
I hope that this quick over view has helped some .

Nothing yet...

Dear Stephen, thanks for your answer! it's exactly what I did, but surely I do something strange in the hook up of the system. I've got a turntable which is abviously connected via RCA plugs to the power amp. Then I've connected the "Tape 1" RCA plugs to the line In of my Firewire Sound Card. In order to monitor the sounds coming from the inputs of the sound card, I have connected the AUX output to the stereo Outputs of the sound card. The missing point is that if I switch the power amp, say to "Tape 1" to abilitate it, I just don't hear the record play anymore, and the software doesn't record any sound, either.
This is the raw, embarassing situation I'm into.
Please, help!

Thanks a lot -- Marco.
