Howdy,

I want to do a SMPTE screen burn to a video (.mov) file in VV3. I know you can do the screen burn with an effect plug-in to the actual video file, but how can I stripe a corresponding audio SMPTE to one channel so that if I render this bad boy, I end up with a video (whatever medium - VHS, VCD, etc) with a SMPTE screen burn with one of the audio channels containing the audio SMPTE stripe that matches the screen burn?

Anybody have a clue? I have some ideas for doing this, but it seems mickey moused. I figure since VV3 offers the screen burn as sort of a plug-in "effect" then it was designed to be able to do a corresponding audio SMPTE stripe, but I can't find anything about it in the VV3 manual.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not too familiar with VV3, but there are a couple of mickey mouse ways to do it depending on what equipmnent you have.

Once you've got your window burn, sync your computer to a smpte signal generator or video machine that can generate smpte and then pipe the generated smpte back into your computer as a wave file. Then join the .mov and .wav in vegas. elvis couldn't do it any slicker than that in vegas!

Another option is to use a computer program that can generate smpte time code to audio. Off the top of my head, I'm only aware of Nuendo that can do it, but I'm sure there's something cheaper or even free/shareware that can do it. Hell, maybe even Vegas Video can do it.

the way I did without a PC is to simply send the smpte out of my video machine to the audio input of a vcr.
