I just got back form Fry's (Fountain Valley) and $1100 will buy a Quad Core 1.8 w/3 GB RAM, 500GB HD and dual layer DVD burner.

Let's just say I'd have easily spent close to $3,000 had I got the stuff prebuilt with the same exact specs.

So you believe that AMD will smoke the Quad Core Intel?

I'm still running a P4 2.0 w/ 1GB so I wouldn't know.

From what I hear, the new quad AMDs are insanely fast for their clock speeds. 5 watts more consumption than an equivalent clocked dual core. Me thinks they're badass and am going to be getting one very very soon.
