Tiles from drop ceiling, any use for acoustic treatment?

one room in the basement of the house has a drop ceiling (don't know what they call it over the pond) that has those fibrous tiles. I plan to take the ceiling down and wonder if it is worth retaining the tiles in case they might be useful in building gobos or wall treatment. Even if they're just the backing of a framed and fabric covered (maybe rock wool filled).

I'm 99% sure they are not asbestos :D This place is pretty old but hopefully not that old.

Monday bump. Anybody? Bueller?
Acoustic ceiling tiles have NRC ratings typically in the midrange. The question is what and in combination of other materials, how do you calculate is it helping or hindering the desired affect? Gobos will typically have a hard side and absorptive side. How do these fit into that?
