I think warmups are so important!! Especially for loud rock screaming, wailing, "singing". LOL.

Think of playing sports without stretching. That's how we get hurt.

If you ask me this is widely underrated. What u folks are saying is all you have to do is drink Gatorade to avoid getting sore/stiff/cramps during a marathon or a ball game.

Warm up to your singing. Don't we take practise swings at the driving range first?
 
One thing that worked to break down mucas is vitamin C tablets (the chewable kind), that and a humidifier usualy does the trick if you use it regularly. Don't use the room kind though if you are with all your gear, they make personal ones that you put your nose and mouth over. And above all else take a few minutes before practice and preformance to do some vocal warm-ups, not only will it keep you from screwing up your voice but it will improve your range and inunciation over time.
