You are obviously going for a 'Low Fi' sound here right? If not, then there is much to address. I actually like the raw sound you have here. If this is not what you are going for, then ignore anything I just said....

Sounds good. I do like the simple sound that is going on there. Maybe guitars and bass could come down a bit, vocals seem at the right place. Or swing the guitar sound in and out more to accommodate the vocals.
I would probably just pull the bass down over all a little (or eq some of the deep low end out), but that is subjective and would take that with a grain of salt at this point.

I thought so, and I like the direction you are going. I would definitely work at getting the low end right then. Low fi or whatever, it still needs some bass to back it up. I barely hear a bass guitar. Is there one? Vocals are quite loud IMO, and the drums are out of balance. Cymbal that rides through chorus is really harsh. 1.5-2k cut needed there, or if you have the ability to re track, point the overhead away from that crash. The toms seemed to jump out at times. Maybe try grouping the 'headed' drums together and compress them and/or parallel compress on a separate group.
I am not suggesting that you make this modern sounding. Using modern techniques, you can find some control over the dynamics, and allow the song to breathe naturally. Not sure that even made sense. lol. Time to make coffee.

I would agree that there is a bit too much of the low end (just listened in the studio) but the bass guitar is not heard clearly. I wouldn't turn down the guitars before I found the frequencies that are harsh. They may not even be so much an issue once the cymbal is controlled.
Each and every piece affects the rest of the mix. Not just volume of any particular instrument. Vocals will not be in the 'right place' until the backing music is right. I'm not sure how one could even say that the vocals are at the right place, when there are other issues.

Yea, you're right. Hard to say do this and do that until this is done. So, maybe didn't word it correctly, but I get your point. In this mix I didn't see issues with the vocals.

Thanks everybody for the replies! Yeah low end is pretty high now that i listened to it...probably should put a low cut on those deeper frequencies, there is a bass but i was trying to make it subtle haha. yeah i just got a new yamaha mg166c mixer thursday so im still getting the hang of recording the drums on it.
