hi
I`m kinda on the brink of picking up the B3,but I haven`t seen alot of feedback on the mic itself.
I`ve tried the B3 and C1 and actually preferred the B3.
I haven`t tested a B1 and I`m basically going mic crazy with way too much info in the last month.
I`m wondering if for the price I should get the B1 and use the savings on an MXL603 but the B3 did impress me.
any feedback would be much appreciated
cheers
paul

ps any thoughts on the MK 219?

While the B-1 is a fine mic, the B-3 is so much more verstaile being multipatterned. I use mine all the time for omni (if the room sound is good) or fig 8 for doing the Mid-Side thing on acoustic guitar.

The B-3 sounds a little different than the b-1. But both are relatively neutral.

Everyone need at least one multipattern mic.

My opinion obviously.

I agree. For a recording newbie like me, the B3 is a very nice mic. Also used mine mostly as omni or figure 8.
For vocals, I have other mics that I pick first though.

Hi Paul, I think it depends on what you want to use the mic(s) for... for example, if your planning on recording acoustic guitar I'd recommend the Marshall MXL603S over both the B1 and B3... and if your going to use the mic for a guitar amp I'd recomend the B1 over the MXL603S and B3. Of course the above is just my opinion and everyone may or may not agree with me. Which leads us to the point that it's really important for YOU to audition mics before you buy, so you know which mic(s) YOU like best for whatever your planning on recording. Also, not everyone's studio environment is the same... so what works best for me may not work best for you. One last note... there have been reports about the Studio Projects mics not all sounding the same... which is another reason why you should audition the mics before you buy any. For example... here is what "r_sinner" said on the Pro Sound Rec Pit ( http://recpit.prosoundweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=12247&sid=b43c7ed4679b4a2681c634e1a796f505 )"This is just my personal experience with SP products... Some of their mic's are pretty good sounding. Just be sure and take it home to try it before you buy it. I've seen (or rather heard) large differences in the response from mic to mic with their gear. And, not saying that they are crap or anything... Just large variances from mic to mic with the same models. Just make sure you get one of the good ones." With all that said... I wish you the best in your quest for the right mic(s) for YOU.

guys...couldn`t thank you enough!!
and yep I`m planning on using the mxl603`s for acoustic guitar.
I was just wondering about the B1 to B3 and because I hadn`t seen alot of user info on the B3 I thought I`d ask here and I`m glad I did.
I did try the B3 and I really did like it and preferred it over the raved C1,so I`ll go with that and with the 7 day return it`ll give me a chance to try it within my environment.
cheers again guys
paul

correction gonna go with the B1...lol,the mxl603,the 57 and I know someone who`s unloading an octava mk219 for cheap so i`ll experiment with that.
cheers again
