thoughts on a small enclosure?

I have a 1x12 extension cabinet that I'd like to record in a different room. Due to volume limitations in the house, I thought about building an enclosure to soundproof it- you know, wood, insulation- basic stuff. Have any of you had or used something like this? What sizes are practical with mic placement, etc? How much will the sound affect an enclosure with variations in size? Any templates?

Don't do that. You'd end up building a bass box. The lows would completely over power everything. It would end up sounding really bad.

Can you put the cabinet in another room without annoying anyone? As long as you get even a small amount of transmission loss between the rooms you should be able to hear what you're micing.

Look into treating the corners of the room you end up using to keep the frequency response of the room somewhat flat.
