I’m new to ProTools and just finished transferring the first of 20 tracks from ADAT synced to a JL Cooper DataSync II to ProTools using a Universal Audio Apollo as the front end via lightpipe. I used the ADAT as the master clock because I have to make multiple passes in order to transfer 16 or 24 tracks. I imported the sequencer files in .mid format from the old sequencing software. The ADAT-transferred audio arrive out of sync to bars and bars but I dragged the start point of the click track to 1/1/000, aligning with the midi sequence. But, in a song that is 118 bpm, 3-minutes in, at bar 96, the audio track is out of alignment with the midi sequence by 84 (84/960) clock ticks. Not a lot, but, should I just split the difference, syncing to perfect sync at mid-song, or not worry about this difference? If I use the Apollo as master clock, I probably will have to manually sync each group of 8 ADAT tracks to each other and then sync the whole batch to the midi files. And who knows, will the Universal Audio clock be perfect?
