It's just that people are starting to get with the program, that...

analog's really worth something!;)

Yeah, in the last few years or so, I've seen prices double and triple for some TASCAM gear.

All these threads about analog machines going for sky-high prices on the 'Bay are making me glad I snagged my ATR-60 for $100!

Yep. I always believed that the prices will go way up (demand for limited machines) and the people like us will snap up whatever is left for parts.

The end will be that the new kids will not care (like they never did) and the analog recording field will just die away.

Unless new decks are made, they will soon go away.

You, however, will have parts well into the next century!

That was a killer deal. Don't let that one go even if you have to put in some bucks into restoring it. The ATR series is well worth it. It cost a lot of money back in the day.

I confess I kind of jumped on the "can you believe this price on ebay?" thread bandwagon...

I check for 688's regularly because I have one and I'm always looking for a back-up should something happen to mine. I know they sold for around 3 grand new in the late '80's - early '90's, but I have never seen one offered for sale in excess of $400.00.

I bought mine about 18 months ago at a music store for $230.00, and most ebay bids tend to end around $250-$400. I think this individual just mis-judged the market...but perhaps someone will take the plunge. Afterall, it is "en bonne condition"!

It's a snapshot in time, where...
