this really sucks...I mean REALLY sucks...

I was totally expecting some bluegrass or "New Orleans" style piece but as soon as it started, it is way different. The banjo works well, but isn't loud enough (looks like you've already addressed that) ... not bad for just learning how to play. I heard a few minor timing things, but pickin' is hard on one of those things...I haven't tried it myself (so what do I really know) but I know people who have and it is a pretty hard instrument to master.

Nice job overall (definitely a good start) :)

p.s. almost ready with some tracks for ya' maybe we can incorporate some banjo...might be kind of cool.

:D

crank, skids, participant, macle, boy...

thanks for the listen and not drilling me a new one..

I've got a full music bed down, and I am just trying to get the banjo down without punching in every other measure. I mean..I gotta go at least 4 measures, right?

I've had THREE lessons now!!... what a riot... I go in [to my lessons] after this little 12 year old looking girl... I think her banjo is as big as she is... She wails... I suck...

man...expensive banjos are expensive too. (now that I've fully gotten the bug and know what to possibly look for....!) I thought Gibson was proud of their prices on guitars... phew!!

(boydrj...sounds good)

Doesn't Suck

I know you've heard this already, but I'm thinkin' about the Banjo in a whole new light now. Good Job.

mix,
OK, 3 lessons and you're playin that good? First off, it's a good looking instrument. Secondly, I'm impressed with the piece. But I also think it's great that there seems to have been a truce called and things are getting back to normal. Good job man! I think you have the right idea with getting mic placement on that thing too, it turned out pretty damn good.

I like!
Pretty cool the way the old time instrument fits in with the modern sounds.

very cool mr.mixmkr..

I really like the way you incorporated the banjo.. not traditional.. (not that I would know what traditional is.) Lots of possibilities.. I would have liked more banjo. If this is supposed to be a banjo test, why is there so little of it? The part you came up with was great but you definitely could have got a better take, or did more punches.. I would turn this into something more complete because it has such a great vibe when the banjo is playing.. things get a little lower in overall volume during the banjo part.. I like it man.. Let's get that part cleaned up now.. :D I'm starting to recognize your style now too..

this is pretty funny coming from Cranky! :D

okobd...thanks for the positive reply...

bdbdbuck... yeah...things do seem more "normal" ...I think the banjo has a soothing effect to it!! Let's see if I (we) can keep it this way for a bit;)

fprodsouth... by old time, I hope you mean "instrument" in general..!! this is a new one!... thanks for the thumbs up.

sabb... yeah..I will work on a better take today..hopefully post something more complete in the near future. I tried not to punch in, as with the fingerpicking, dealing with a mouse and fingerpicks is tuff!!!
I know this is not the best I can do on this snippit, and being so new at it, I can really hear improvement almost on a daily basis as I practice. But, this song is "pushing my limits" as far as fingerpicking chops go at this point. I will say, the fingerpicking is such that I play it the same everytime, (or at least try to), so I am playing patterns/rolls/sequences...whatever you want to call them.... and not just hoping to "get lucky". I have never really played so strict, "note to note" in such a long time...not that this is really all that complex...but just tough for me, at this point.
I have a fairly complete music track already, and am just trying to finish up with the banjo, with it being the "featured" instrument.

The banjo looks cool with that maple neck. So its kinda like a snare with a neck. I'd probly put a 57 on the snare bit which would be probly totaly wrong.
Sounded cool. What about some banjo slide.

Very interesting in great way! The banjo could be moved up in the mix a bit but all around it sounds great..

As this started I wondered how the banjo could possibly sit well with the pad, but it does! Cool. Another year and maybe you'll give Bela Fleck a run for his money. Sounds good...we could use a good banjo player on the board!

this is pretty freaking groovy! I'm not sure if banjo is the right instrument for this song and playing style, but that's what makes it cool, well, I find it a little funny also. Just picture a banjo player doing his thing on stage with synthesizers and machine drums around him:):D lol

An electric guitar with the exact same playing and some delay will make this pretty Floydish IMO.

VERY cool mix.......I agree that the banjo should come up some although I am listening to the second mix.

Just a snippet?! JUST A DEMO?! Seven minutes is just a snippet? Holy crap.....I've never done anything but snippets.

Nice work bro, I enjoyed it.
