never heard of john prine, but this is a funny sounding song..

sounds good.. the vocal comes out of sync in a few parts though.. not sure if it was the performance or a latency issue.. that's my biggest complaint.. almost sounds like you need a pop screen.. This song reminds me of Burl Ives for some reason..

I don't know why I expected your music to be heavy.. sounds good..

i think the out of sync thing is caused by a heavy influx of
alcohol.
the stuff iwrite is fairly heavy.i just wanted to use a simple tune for a test run.
at present i am mixing thru cans.buying the yamaha put me
in the poor house.soon i will get some decent moitors and
that should improve things a bit.
thanks for the listen.

I liked the new tune shep. The aw is clean and you did a good job tracking with it. Lookin at the AW the other day I was thinkin about being on a high dive with my eyes closed and having to jump. Maybe the learning curve wont be too steep, you already got it going on man.. :) Your studio is gonna be boss when you get finished with it.....

p.s. Rhonda cracked when she heard the whisker bisquit cd :)

"john Prine" great story teller/artist. one of my old bass players was named ( sheppard) R.I.P. :( , we called him Shep. Fun song man, thought it sounded pretty damn good. Reverb at the end didn't bother me at all. Nice to meet ya..

sheppard, we do this song sometimes. It's a great tune. You do it great. Good vocals. Very good recording too.

And B. Sabbath, I can't believe you haven't heard of John Prine.

Alright. Prine's onea my faves and you did him justice here, performance-wise. Personally, I'd like to hear harmony rather than unison when the 2nd voice kicks in. And the guitar could definitely be more prominant, but hey, you're mixing on cans which is damn near impossible. Nice singing and damn good choice of tune.

Sounded nice!Guits could come up.Lead vocal sounded panned off to the side too much.Everything sounded pretty clean though.Nice work for a right wing nut!:D
When you gonna post the heavy stuff?

thanks folks.i should have some decent monitors soon.
until then its the radio shack cans!lmao.
damn,i feel like i just admitted to fucking a fat girl.(my name is shep, and i use radio shack products.)ooohhhhh the shame.

Since there was a recent discussion about singing with perfect pitch I'll point out that to my ears there are some places that go off pitch. I understand the style of the tune is a little loopy but that makes it tough to get back on when you need to. I certainly could be wrong but I hear it too much to ignore. Otherwise sounds pretty good and the quality of your voice is perfect for this kind of tune.

Hey Shepp,.

I know this is an incredibly old thread but I searched the bbs to see if anyone had covered Prine and this came up. Of course, now it's gone NWR and I'd like to hear it as I'm steeped in his catalog at the moment and am curious to hear what you did with his stuff.

Failing that, you could maybe mention which song you did. This thread has gone 10+ posts w/o anyone mentioning the title of the tune! So, which one was it?

thanks,

miles
