is this part of the plan to make this a sticky because it bloomin' well should be! it took me about a week to get through the whole thing, mainly because i'd read something in it and "i need to try this right now!!!!" and would disappear off to play around with stuff.
to me, the biggest and most used tip i found in this was about the gain reduction on noise gates. for years i just left it at -100dB or whatever the absolute lowest setting was. since reading this and using my ears a bit more i now find between -12dB and -25dB of gain reduction on a noise gate is perfect. sometimes i even just use -6dB of gain reduction, especially on snares where i find that it really just helps save the tone and body of the snare without the horrible hi hat "hiss" of over gating
