I figured we needed another Sonar3 thread.
I've been happy with Cakewalk and bought the last two upgrades eagerly.This latest one I'm not as enthused about.There's a few things I'd like to know to help me make up my mind....
First and foremost,does anyone have any idea what is included in the VS3 samplers library?Real usable instruments?Demo type samples that can't be used?I just got Kompakt and unless the samples are good and usable the VS3 will be useless.
Second,loop content.Are these the same recycled loops that came in the previous versions?
Third the plugs.I read a lot of raves about the Sonitus suite,is it that much better than the FX plugs already in Sonar?
Does anyone have any knowledge of the Lexicon reverb?
What it basically boils down to,is I don't want to throw away a bunch of money for stuff I've already got.

Please don't judge SONAR 3 solely by the extras that come with the Producer Edition - there have been many significant updates to SONAR itself! Read more about it on our website.
Getting to your questions - the sample/loop content hasn't been reviewed yet, so we don't have any unbiased opinions. If you want my opinion, I've heard some great sounds. I think the piano is beautiful, and there are some sweet analog synth samples in there...
Are the Sonitus plugs much better than the FX plugs? Ugh, again, that's an awkward question for me to answer as a CW employee - pitting us against ourselves, but... IMHO, yes.
The Lexicon reverb is a true Lexicon reverb. Top of the line. It's no joke. The DSP comes from Lexicon themselves, and right now, it's exclusive for SONAR. Folks who have heard it and are familiar with Lexicon reverbs, say it reminds them of a 480.

Please bear with me... but most of my friend keep telling me that Cubase or Nuendo record audio more wide, bright and "crispy" due to their Audio engine compared to SONAR. I've never used them (at least not comparing the audio quality while recording anyway), so I'm not sure about it, but can you explain about this issue in general? FYI, I'm not gonna switch to cubase nor nuendo at all, not a chance. I'll stick with cakewalk, but I'm just curious why did they told me so? And how do you settle this issue with SONAR 3? Thanks....

This is a weird one. Highly debatable, somewhat subjective. I would best summarize by saying that as far as the sound of a DAW audio engine goes, we've got a pretty level playing field. IOW, one DAW should not sound perceptively better than another, unless additional effects are applied.
Another thing I want to know about sonar 3... u know in the piano roll there's a brush for drum styles? Are there any new drum styles? I know this is a really minor thing but I just would like to know...

i dunno about cubase or nuendo...but i know for a FACT samplitude is more extended in the highs and the lows then sonar when mixing in the box....the difference isn't a Glaring...OMG....but you listen enough and you'll hear it...don't send me hate mail now guys.... the addition of plug-ins and other dsp processes may widen the gap...haven't gotten that far myself...i just mix in samplitude and be done with it..
