After searching, listening, reading and singing on the forum for a few months I have come to the conclusion I want to buy myself a diaphram/ condessor mic. Yes, I have been in and out of shops too (to embarassed to try them ou but having a wee look). I find you guys to be just awsome around here.

So I have saved up 100 pounds to get a diaphram mic. I have tryed to take in as much of your advice as possible. Perhaps you could tell me if there is a condessor "good all rounder" for singing and accoustic guitar. Thats all. It may be too much to ask for with too little money but there must be some deals on the net. Can you help chaps?

I found this today for 99 pounds so it must be possible, please give me a minute. Thankyou.

Hi Erland. That looks like a Chinese knock off of a Shure KSM series type mic. I've not had any experience with this particular mic but I'd imagine it'll sound OK. More than likely the high end will be a bit hyped (I'm personally not a fan of this sound but that's a matter of taste). The problem with anything I might recommend to you is you're on the other side of the pond and I'm not too hip to the exchange rate and what stuff lists for there vs here. I'll tell you what I'd get if I was picking up a single mic to do voice and guitar, an AT4033. Here they're just under $300 American street price. I'd imagine they're a bit more there. Wish I could help more my friend.

Hey mate,

Look, I've nevered heared the/of that mic, but seiously, what's the big risk? They seem to have a nice return policy, and if you don't like it, you can send it back. The specs seem decent enough, but it doesn't always mean anything. I'd get it, play around with it, record a sample or two and post on the net and ask one of our experts for his opinion if you're not sure. But remember - if it sounds good - it is good. Meaning, you're the only one who can really tell if you thing the mic does you justice.

Marshall mxl v93 / 2003 can be had for 150 American dollars and you get a shockmount with it. It's great on accoustic guitar, voice, and just about everything else.

Erland,

The Red Audio Mics are sold direct from the dealer, and they are based in the UK. They are Chinese, from Tenelux, or other is my best guess. I had a chat with the owner...nice guy, but I do not know his mic. You will not find them at dealers, so only from them direct.
