I could really use some help right now people. I just moved and was setting up my studio. Somehow my studio monitors got misplaced in the move and I'm using my desktop speakers for the meantime. So here is my setup (at least the parts that matter for this problem.)
Roland MV8000 sampler
M-Audio Audiophile 192
Vestax 06 pro mixer
stanton str8-80 table
Tube MP studio mic preamp
AudioTechnica 4040 Mic
Adobe Audition

Now here's the problem:
With either the sampler, mic, or the table running into the 1/4" inputs on my audio card, I can't get any sound from any of the 3. Once I hit record in Audition, you can see audio levels and can tell audio is being recorded, however there is no sound. As soon as I turn off whatever I'm using to input sound and hit play on what was just recorded, BOOM there it is. I figure it has something to do with the fact that the audio card for the inputs is the Audiophile 192 and the audio card for the output is the standard soundcard on my pc. I've checked the settings for my audio devices and for both voice and audio recording it is set to my Audiophile 192. For both my voice and audio playback it is set to creative sb Live! So now I'm stuck and don't know what to do! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Your Musical Peer

Im not sure about the control panel for that soundcard...but if its anything like the delta series from M-audio, make sure that the faders for the outputs are turned up....you may also want to double check your output settings in Adobe Audition...

All the faders are turned up. You can even SEE the audio when I play a beat on the levels reading H/W In 1/2. Everything seems like it SHOULD be working, but yet it still isn't:( Any more suggestions?

What are your speakers plugged into?

If they are plugged into the PC, you may not hear things if your default device is the Audiophile.

Although . . . you can hear on playback, but not on monitoring, right?

Is there a toggle to turn on hardware monitoring on the audiophile?

nah, that isn't it either. i used to have it set up where just for vocals we would use the pc's speakers from the pc's audio card with the mic going into the audiophile 192. we were able to hear our vocals in realtime. there's something that i'm missing and it's gonna drive me insane!
